Effective 25 February 2025, The ASEAN CUP INTERNATIONAL REGATTA SERIES has attained formal recognition as a World Sailing Inscribed Event, securing its position on the global body's premier competition calendar.

The ASEAN CUP INTERNATIONAL REGATTA SERIES (ACIR), launched in October 2024, is organized by Cheng Ho International Trade Centre and Cultural City Centre Sdn Bhd, China-ASEAN Culture Inter Exchange Association, and ASEAN Cup International Regatta Management Co., Ltd. (HK). The event is supported by the Melaka State Government, Tourism Malaysia, and the Jonker Walk Committee. This marks the inaugural major international regatta held under the banner of the ASEAN Cup, featuring a series of regatta events with a points-based format and a prize pool of 1 million Hong Kong dollars. In 2025, the ACIR will be held in three regions: Melaka (Malaysia), Wuxuan (Guangxi, China), and Hong Kong (China). Each event location will also host unique on-site carnival activities, aiming to attract the public's attention to sailing while enhancing the interaction and exchange in tourism, sports, trade, and culture between ASEAN countries and the host regions.
