The 2024 ASEAN Cup International Regatta,
abbreviated as ACIR, will officially depart from Melaka, Malaysia from December
23-31, 2024. It will be jointly organized by the China-ASEAN Culture Inter
Exchange Association , ASEAN Cup International Regatta Management Co. , Ltd., Tourism
Malaysia, Jonker Walk committee. Ten ASEAN member countries (Malaysia,
Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos,
Myanmar) will be invited to compete with fleets from the East Asian Free Trade
Area (China, Japan, South Korea) and the Chinese Special Administrative Regions
(Hong Kong, Macau) for glory.
The 2024 ASEAN Cup International Regatta
not only invites teams from ASEAN countries to participate, but will also be
open to world-class sailing representative teams from Australia, New Zealand,
the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries. The host region
will send no less than 2 participating teams to participate in the race, and
high-level fleets from 15 countries and regions are expected to participate.
The event will be held simultaneously,
including press conferences, promotion events, opening and closing ceremonies,
award ceremonies, cultural tourism festivals, economic exchanges, and other
activities. The event will span across Christmas and New Year, and a series of
marine carnivals will make the venue the busiest gathering place for tourists,
effectively driving local consumption growth in multiple fields. The ASEAN Cup
will be broadcasted live on television and broadcast to mainstream media in ASEAN
and internationally, international media, mobile live platforms, and the host
city. It is estimated that more than 100 million viewers will pay attention to
the event. The competition not only promotes the development of sailing sports,
but also indirectly makes the host city Melaka an international highlight,
enhances Melaka 's reputation, showcases its advantages in tourism and
investment, and promotes Melaka 's economy.
