On the afternoon of December 18th, 2023, the press conference for the ASEAN Cup International Regatta was held in Melaka, Malaysia. The ASEAN Cup International Regatta will officially depart in 2024, with the first race held in Melaka, Malaysia. It is jointly organized by the ASEAN China Cultural Exchange Association, ASEAN Cup International Sailing Management Co., Ltd., the Melaka State Government, the Tourism Board of Malaysia, and the Melaka Historic City District (Jonker Street) Working Committee. The competition will invite 15 fleets from ten ASEAN member countries, as well as China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, and other regions of the East Asian Free Trade Area to participate. The ASEAN Cup International Regatta Committee: Chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Razak, Chief Minister of Melaka, Malaysia; Chairman of the event, Law Kam Fai; Mr. Sha Ali, Director General of the Tourism Bureau; Mr. Jaafar, Director General of the Malaysian Development Bureau; Mr. Chen Weijian, Secretary General of the ASEAN China Cultural Exchange Promotion Association, and other government representatives, regional representatives, and sponsor representatives attended the press conference. The ASEAN Cup International Regatta aims to create an attractive and innovative sailing event in Asia, promote the development of sailing sports, and effectively link the active cooperation of countries along the route in finance, digital economy, tourism, sports, education, culture and other fields through sailing events as a platform.
